Portrait of an Artist

What makes an Artist and artist? The dictionary defines an artist as someone who creates works of art, art being the application of human creative skill.  A work of art may communicate something of the presence of the artist, but is an artist defined by the work they produce? How is the work of an artist affected by who they are?  what do we look for in a work of art? - could we find that by a study of the artist themselves?

Identity

Picture
What objects do we keep and why? how are we shaped and defined by what we own? what do we treasure most, is it the object or the memory associated with that object? do objects project a false identity ? or does an examination of objects we keep and those we find that we are attracted to help us to understand more fully who we really are?

We all look different but are essentially the same, at the same time to an outside observer we would all look similar and yet are individually unique.

Big Bird

Picture
This project has been incubating for some time.  This is a cardboard model of a metal sculpture I would like to make from my husbands old discarded worn plough metal.  It would have a wing span of 3 meters, and stand 1.5 meters tall.  It would weigh twice as much as me...
Birds always gather behind the plough.  Birds are  a symbol of freedom and peace,  a bridge between the mundane and the spiritual, they overcome the what appear to be physical limitations to soar into the sky.
set in the landscape at the edge of our field,   Hopefully  this will be the first of many works in our expanded garden

What would you do if you were God?

If you met me in the street in this gown how would you respond? Now imagine the cloak covered with pictures of mans destruction.  If I asked you what you would do if you were God, how would you respond?
